Statewide Organize & Recycle Presentation Series

The Michigan Recycling Coalition (MRC) and the National Association of Professional Organizers in Michigan (NAPO-MI) have created a statewide presentation series to increase awareness on the basics of getting organized and recycling at home. The goal of the series is to introduce a new presentation topic each quarter to educate Michigan residents and provide useful information, simple solutions, and guidance on how Michiganders can improve their quality of life while helping the environment.

“Recycling is here to stay. By collaborating with NAPO we hope to provide Michigan residents with the information and motivation they need to manage unneeded stuff like a resource rather than a waste,” says Kerrin O’Brien, Executive Director of the Michigan Recycling Coalition.

The program will officially kick off by January 2011, coinciding with National Get Organized Month in January. The first presentation will include content on an introduction to getting organized & recycling at home. Future presentation topics will include organizing & recycling in your kitchen and organizing & recycling in your garage, etc. These presentations will be held at public libraries, are structured to last approximately one hour and will be free to the public. The presentations will feature segments on organizing, recycling and answering audience questions.

“Our organizers are excited to give back to the community and participate in this program,” says Ann Marie Moore, Director of Marketing for the Michigan Chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers. “Organizing and recycling often go hand in hand. Partnering with the MRC allows all of us to have a bigger voice across the state so our organizers and the recycling community can ultimately help to make a bigger difference in the lives of more people.”

Both associations hope these presentations will encourage people to get more organized and discover how easy it is to start recycling. Visit the program’s website at www.OrganizeAndRecycle.blogspot.com for details about upcoming educational organize and recycle presentations in your area.
